Introducing Letterform Live – a new series of events brought to you by Grafik and Monotype, inspired by our regular Letterform column and featuring a raft of top speakers.

In partnership with our friends at Monotype, we're very excited to launch Letterform Live, a series of informal talks inspired by our popular Letterform column which ran in every issue of Grafik magazine since August 2005 and now continues online.

The first three Letterform Live evenings will take place on Wednesday 19 November, Wednesday 3 December and Wednesday 17 December from 6.30 - 9.30pm at the Protein Space, New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EY. Each event will feature five speakers, and there will be plenty of time for questions and drinks (on us) afterwards, plus a chance to win a bag crammed full of Monotype goodies.

Each speaker will zoom in on a single letterform from a specific typeface, exploring both the visual forms of one glyph and also its context and history. Our speakers will be encouraged to share their letter's little-known secrets and reveal their personal relationship with the letter they’ve chosen.

The first three themes are Posters, Books and Magazines – speakers confirmed so far include Simon Manchipp, Jasmine Razhanan, Catherine Dixon and Freda Sack (19 Nov); Andy Altmann, APFEL, Simon Esterson, David Pearson and Gunnar Vilhjálmsson (3 Dec); and Violetta Boxill, Elisabeth Bukanova and Veronica Ditting (17 Dec).

We'll also be inviting one of our readers to take to the stage and talk about their letterform of choice on 17 December – keep an eye on Grafik.net for details of how you can get involved.

Tickets are £10 per session and can be purchased here
