Superscript is a brand new conference taking place at the Walker Arts Center which explores the changing role of the cultural critic in the digital age.
Democratisation of the media has led to an explosion in both DIY criticism and curation, and a forthcoming conference organised by the Walker Arts Center and Min Artists looks at the changing role of the cultural critic in the digital age. The conference promises much food for thought and features a diverse cast of speakers including artists, writers, editors, curators and theorists, all of whom will examine topics including the changing role of the professional art critic, the influence of virality on cultivating new audiences and how we think about practice.
Keynote speakers include artist James Bridle and critic Ben Davis, who will be joined by speakers from cultural channels such as Design Observer, Buzzfeed, Pitchfork and Vice. Sessions include topics such as Crowdsourced Criticism; Artists as Cultural First Responders and Credibility, Criticism and Collusion – plenty to get your teeth into.
The conference takes place at the Walker Arts Center from 28-30 May, with early bird tickets on sale now from the SuperScript website now.
