The School of Visual Arts' new Design Research Masters will hold an open house next month for those wanting learn more about analysing and interpreting design.
Are you interested in the contexts and consequences of design? For those based in the New York area (or the millions looking for any excuse to move to Manhattan) who can answer “yes” to this question then it makes sense to pay a visit to SVA’s Design Research open house next month. During the event you’ll have the opportunity to hear program faculty, students, and alumni speak about the ways in which they use the techniques the course promotes in their work, and about the value of research in design practice, curation, education, and publishing. This will be followed by a tour of the department and a drinks reception.
The course apparatchiks describe the Masters thusly: “This rigorous one-year MA offers a high-impact, targeted program, well suited to the circumstances of established professionals, in addition to graduates wishing to continue their studies at an advanced level. With a two-semester timeframe, the SVA MA in Design Research provides intensive instruction in the tools and techniques for researching design and its cultural and environmental implications.”
If that hasn’t convinced you that it’s at least worth the effort to head down for a free drink and a chat with some interesting and passionate people, then perhaps these enthusiastic talking heads might sway you:
