East London Comics and Arts Festival returns for its third edition with a stellar line up of exhibitors, workshops and talks, all at a new larger venue in Hackney.

ELCAF poster by Chris Ware for Nobrow

Since it launched just two years ago, ELCAF has built up a strong reputation as a key event to scout emerging illustrators with a narrative slant. Now in its third edition, the Nobrow-founded festival has outgrown its location at Bethnal Green’s Ford Hall, moving to a larger space just up the road at Oval Space, Hackney.

Curator Ligaya Salazar and creative producer Joana Filipe have assembled more than 100 exhibitors, including individual artists, collectives and publishers, to present new work and sell their latest comics and prints. The talks programme will include interviews with stop-motion animator and artist Anouk Ricard, Cartoon Network’s Jess Moynihan, illustrator Takayo Akiyama and PALOOKAVILLE author Seth, and workshops range from learning how to linocut, to getting started in children’s illustration.

US-based Chris Ware, the renowned author behind award-winning novel Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth, will be the artist-in-residence during the festival, a role which will see him headline the talks programme as well as creating a new collectable poster for this year’s event. ELCAF
