The inaugural edition of New York design festival Typographics pairs top notch speakers with an impressive workshop programme. Enter this week’s Objekts of Desire giveaway for a chance to join the fun.

Cooper Union’s Foundation Building in New York

The design festival circuit is a crowded place, so it takes something really special to fill an existing gap. New York-based Typographics, which runs 12-13 June, does just this with its aim to showcase excellent examples of type and underpin our emotional connection with them. The team (Alexander Tochilovsky and Cara Di Edwardo, the co-founders of Type@Cooper, and Roger Black, the co-founder of Font Bureau) have also developed a series of fun, type-inspired workshops, ranging from painting, working with found lettering, and the Python programming language, and events the week before and after the conference itself.

Typographics’ speaker line-up is broad in its scope, featuring coders, content analysts and interface designers and well as typography stalwarts Bruno Maag and Jonathan Hoefler, critic Adrian Shaughnessy, author Steven Heller and designers Alex Trochut, Paula Scher and Barbara Glauber.

Typographics has kindly given us two tickets (worth $400 each) to this exciting new festival to give away as part of Objekts of Desire. For a chance to win one ticket, send an email to giveaway@grafik.net with the subject line ‘Typographics’ telling us which famous type designer has given his name to the study centre that Alexander Tochilovsky also curates. We'll pick a winner on 8 June. Please note that the prize just includes tickets to the festival and winners must be able to travel to New York under their own steam.
