Alan Kitching's A Life in Letterpress was the highlight of this year's Pick Me Up exhibition. If you weren't able to catch it at Somerset House, read on to find out how you can win a signed copy of his handsome new book.
Alan Kitching's work seems to transcend boundaries – it has mass appeal without being mass produced, and its apparent simplicity belies a masterful approach to form and colour, with Kitching's dry sense of humour never very far away.
Kitching's recent exhibition at Somerset House (which formed part of Pick Me Up) was a triumph – beautifully designed by longtime collaborator Daniel Chedhade (of Studio Chehade), it presented Kitching's work in way which surprised even those who were familiar with most of the pieces on show. If you didn't manage to catch the show in London, then you can catch it at the Lettering Arts Centre, Snape Maltings, Suffolk between 03 June and 20 August, and 01 November to 26 February 2017 at the Lighthouse Glasgow.
The exhibition was to celebrate Kitching's new book A Life in Letterpress, written by John L Walters and published by Laurence King. We have a copy (which usually retails at £75) signed by the man himself to give away to one lucky reader. To be in with a chance of winning, just send an email with 'Kitching' in the subject box to giveaway@grafik.net, telling us the name of Alan's mentor. Deadline is 01 June 2016, and you can find the answer here.
