We're extremely excited to be supporting Kemistry Gallery's fast approaching pop-up show 100 Years of Graphic Design, which marks the next stage in the gallery's exciting journey.

Supported by a grant from the Arts Council and a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, Kemistry is in the process of establishing the UK’s first ever National Centre for Graphic Design. The project enters the next exciting stage in its development with a must-see pop-up show and accompanying series of talks at Protein Studios, which runs from Saturday 7 March to Sunday 15 March.

Entitled Kemistry Gallery: 100 Years of Graphic Design, it’s the Shoreditch gallery’s very personal pick of some of the most exciting moments in graphic design from 1914 to the present day. As well as the big names that you’d expect, the exhibition also features anonymous works from private collections, including Polish cinema posters from the 1960s and the propaganda images of Latin American radicals OSPAAL.

In addition to the exhibition, there are three talks addressing some of the pertinent issues currently surrounding graphic design and the creative industries.

The first Graphic Design: What Next? on Tuesday 10 March features speakers including Adrian Shaughnessy and Andy Altmann, who will look at the rapidly changing nature of the discipline and consider what it means to be a graphic designer in 2015 and beyond.

On Wednesday 11 March, Dr Catherine Dixon, Robert Green and Anthony Burrill will spend an evening discussing their love of letterforms in Love Letters: on a Passion for Typography with Eye editor John Walters; and on Thursday 12 March, Malika Favre, Dan Witchell and Mark Bonner will look at the importance (or not) of winning awards in the final talk All Shall Have Prizes: Designing Awards and Award-Winning Design.

All of the events will be held at Protein Studios, EC2A 3EY, and tickets can be purchased here.

Grafik is very proud to be supporting such an important initiative for the UK graphic design community. Keep an eye out for a chance for two lucky Grafik readers to win tickets to the exclusive VIP opening on Thursday 5 March, plus our special Kemistry Gallery Objekts of Desire giveaway series in the week leading up to the show, where you'll be able to get your hands on prints from some of the designers featured in the exhibition.
