The creative community of Sheffield and beyond will gather together later this month for the city’s first ever design week. Co-ordinated by industry platform Made North, the seven-day celebrations will involve a plethora of exhibitions, events and workshops and a design and architecture film festival, highlighting creativity in the region and bringing in inspiring international creatives.

Made North will hold a one-day conference on 27 June, with talks curated by the RIBA, Crafts Council and the Design Council. Speakers will include Daniel Charny, Dominic Wilcox, Bruce Montgomery, Ian Anderson of The Designers Republic, Tony Brook from Spin and Anthony Burrill. Burrill will also exhibit a number of his best-known works as part of an exhibition at Made North Gallery.

To celebrate the fact that the Tour de France will begin in Yorkshire for the first time this summer, the Millennium Gallery will host an exhibition inspired by the tour’s iconic yellow jersey. A mixture of local and international designers will contribute to the show, including Margaret Calvert, Wim Crouwel, M/M Paris, Hey Studio, The Designers Republic and Faunagraphic.
