Four Corners Books has announced two new titles in their fascinating Familiars series, which looks afresh at the illustrated novel through collaborations with contemporary artists.

The most recent books to be published as part of the Four Corners Familiars series have been announced and there’s a definite Russian theme. The Nose by Nicholai Gogol, created with artist Rick Buckley, and The Overcoat, also by Gogol, created with artist Sarah Dobai, are the latest texts to have the Four Corners treatment. As ever, both of the latest Familiars books are designed by John Morgan Studio.

The Nose is a fantastical and satirical short story in which a St. Petersburg official's nose causes havoc all over the city – detached from its owner. The story is accompanied by photographs from Buckley which record his Gogol-inspired project in which he stuck plaster noses on walls around London.

The Overcoat is a tale of how material gain and loss can affect us, with Dobai's luscious photographs of shop windows in London and Paris reflecting the themes of the story into our own time.
