To celebrate the public launch of BLAZON’s debut scarf collection and new pop-up shop we’re giving you the opportunity to win two limited edition examples.
Bla·zon [bley-zuhn] means to adorn or embellish, especially brilliantly or showily. An apposite title, then, for a brand established to design exuberant and vibrant scarves. The BLAZON name was chosen specifically for the way it relates to the visual description for a flag or a coat of arms. Designer Natasha Coverdale says “scarves are an excellent way to proudly display who we are and how we feel.” As a result, Blazon’s debut collection is characterised by bold geometric patterns and powerful colours.
Coverdale has been working as a graphic designer for over ten years. In that time she has created work across print design and branding for companies such as Harrods, Liberty, Pecksniffs and Debenhams. She took inspiration for the collection both from her passion for modernist art and her experience of working with branding and identities: “I have spent many hours making shape and colour work hard to tell a story. I have a close relationship with simple shapes. I wanted to create geometric patterns and landscapes seen to be as beautiful as a floral print.” Only one hundred scarves have been made in this batch and each scarf comes with a numbered certificate.
BLAZON is celebrating the public launch of its debut collection with a pop-up at Shoreditch’s Boxpark from the 29 September–6 October, featuring giant, abstract, geometric scarves on extendable arms, oversize poster prints an interactive photobooth.
Grafik has teamed up with BLAZON to give away two of the limited editions items from this first collection. To enter, email giveaway@grafik.net, add BLAZON in the subject line and tell us the name of the scarf modelled by an Eagle on the BLAZON website before 13 October.
