Freitag is launching a competition with a difference – the chance to design a lorry tarpaulin which will eventually be used to make its stylish and planet-saving bags.
Swiss bag manufacturer extraordinaire Freitag realised that the dwindling number of independent haulage companies has had an effect on its precious raw material. Truck tarpaulins are becoming increasingly boring and homogenous, so Freitag has decided to take action by launching its new Design-A-Truck competition in conjunction with Swiss road haulers Planzer.
The brief involves creating a design for two, forty square metre side tarps for one of its trucks. After five years on the open road, the winning tarps will then be washed, cut and stitched into brand new Freitag bags and accessories, ready to start their new lives.
There are Freitag vouchers to the value of 500 and 1000 Euro for the runners up, and the overall winer will receive 2000 Euro plus an invitation to the tarp-fitting ceremony. Deadline is 30 April 2015 and you can get full details of how to enter (including a downloadable template) here.
